I haven't watched the race yet, but of course I know who has won and this does not bother me one bit. Also, Oppo-verse what coverage of Formula 1 do you prefer? I like David Coulthard's commentary, but I think I prefer the pageantry that SkySportsF1 puts on during a race weekend. Anyway, 3k and 4k wallpaper dump time

It genuinely doesn't bother me. I am such a fan of the sport that I can still enjoy it even if I don't get to see it live. Being an adult and having a family and job and responsibilities means I am slowly learning to relinquish my need for entertainment. I think this year I will be able to stop watching TV shows. I may still record them digitally for my wife but I think I am going to find much better uses of my time this year. With the only exception being F1

Daddy, doesn't do commercials anymore. It's been over 5 years since I watched a live broadcast of a sporting event or live television show. I can recall visiting family or whatever and they would sit down to watch tv and then a commercial would come on and I would be like "What is this shit? Fuck commercials I'm gonna go do some yard work or something instead."

That's a noble objective. There are a few series that I watch and enjoy with Mrs. addiction (Parenthood, House of Cards, Big Bang Theory), and I watch nature shows with the kids, but I've found since having DVRs I watch much less TV. I record what I want and don't waste any time just looking for something to watch. What a monumental waste of time...

I watch the BBC's coverage with a VPN. I like the commentators that are used and the Beeb just does it right.

I have been running a media server as my entertainment device for years and mostly only watch tv to have some background noise while I do other stuff. The previous exception being tactical/combat shows (Spartacus and Strike Back) and TGUK. but now that 2 of those 3 are done I am pretty much done with TV. A few weeks ago I officially quit watching the walking dead. That show is simply a dog chasing its tail in a box of lava and rock salt. IT became painful to watch. Parks and Rec is over now, so is HIMYM. Really, TV has experienced a boom in the wake of terrible movie studio decisions (don't even get me started on not watching movies, costs me FAR too much time to watch a movie) but I feel like while that boom generated a much larger quantity of entertainment the quality has steadily gone down since The Wire/Oz/Band of Brothers/original 24.

HIMYM was good at the beginning, but I just lost interest after a few seasons. Was really, really clever early on, but seemed like they were really reaching for more material in the middle/end, and I only watched it sporadically. I think we're going to start into Parks and Rec on Netflix. We also watched Marco Polo. Probably also need to watch The Wire at some point...

I'm with you on movies - who has the time? We get out the the theater maybe once every couple months, and watch one at home maybe once every couple weeks. Maybe. And considering how sheltered I was a kid, there are just a ton of popular movies that I've never seen. People's reactions are pretty hilarious. You've never seen [movie that apparently everyone else has seen]?! How is that possible?

Agreed. I only went to a movie theater once last year. And mostly when I watch things that are over 25 minutes in length, on comes the 2.5x fast forward with audio plugin in VLC. I watch all my youtube videos in 2x unless it is something I trying to learn or someting I care about greatly (McLaren announcements)

Yeah, I pay for a service called PrivateInternetAccess. I think it's something like $39 / 3 months and it's an encrypted VPN service to servers all over the world. Be default I connect to local servers in Canada but after quali and the race I switch to the London server and iPlayer works great. For the most part video streaming is pretty good quality but once in a while YouTube just doesn't like high bitrate films. In that case I just disconnect.
